Brutal trip down the rocks back to the slide crossing, then smooth sailing to the lean to where we enjoyed a dip in a swimming hole on the river and a pleasant night of camping. I'm 69 and hike very slowly but that said I found the climb from the slide to the top of the mountain to be relatively easy and safe - using poles. This mountain is a real bitch.
